I just see them consolidating congregations. They are already starting to do this. I think there will always be some janitor who has no power in the world who will eat up the idea of having power over others in the cong.
The org. works from the top down, so reform will have to come the same way. Just not gonna happen. They are too entrenched and getting meaner as they go.

In the reply given by the UN itself, it stated that it was never necessary to be any type of NGO to access the UN library. The UN has no reason to lie or deceive in this matter. Thw WBTS has every reason to lie to cover their ass.

That just has to look bad to people reading it. An adult cannot decide what to do in her daily life without calling a "clergy" member and asking for a decision. It really shows the cultish side of the religion.
I know of a man who recently asked the elders if he could walk the picket line when they went on strike where he worked. No scriptures involved, just no. The hard part was the union was going to provide continuance of health insurance and an income while on strike, but only if you walked the picket line.
There were 2 witnesses that worked there and they explained the situation to the union. The union was nice enough to give them other work to do so they could have the benefits. They were much more concerned with their welfare than any jw or elder.

I'm with Oompa. This letter does not sound like it came from the society.
i stopped going to meeting over a year ago (profile explains why) and have enjoyed doing all the stuff that comes with being a non-witness; ie going out, meeting new people, lying in on a sunday, never having to wear dowdy skirts, etc.
however since coming on the forum and commenting more, i have realised that eventually i will wonder about faith again.
i still have a bible, the nwt, and even though some may say it's not a good version i do find it pleasant to read, and it's what i'm used to.

It's true that a lot og jws are becomming like nominal christians, attending less and just saying no to the hectic lifestyle forced upon them. Many still believe in part of it, at least. It is strange, once my non-jw mother told me in the 70's that as time went on, the religion would become more like the other churchs. I don't see that in everything, but I see it in the way people are setting their own terms with their time and support.
The majority of jws I know are only there for the social aspect. It doesn't even seem like the same religion I knew 30 years ago. It is in constant flux, always running from one scandal or another.
i am new to this site but have out for more than 12 years.
